PEARL SECRET
PEARL SECRET
Group winning sprinter son of Compton Place
Pearl-Secret-Lge-2.jpg

Group winning sprinter son of Compton Place, his sire's natural successor at stud.

Pearl Secret won 7 of his 26 starts (22 of which were top level stakes races) and his wins at multiple ages included two listed victories, the Scurry Stakes (aged 3) and the Beverley Bullet (aged 5) before a fantastic and well deserved success in the Group 2 Temple Stakes aged 6 in 2015.

He won on his first four starts, including his debut as a two year old but was also frequently placed in the biggest sprints, such as third in the Group 1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2013 (followed up with a 4th in the same race the following year).

During his career Pearl Secret defeated fellow champions such as Group 1 winners Goldream and G Force, plus top class rivals Hot Streak, Bungle Inthejungle & Heeraat.

His trainer, David Barron, said "He was the quickest and toughest horse that I have ever trained. With a bit more luck he would have won the Group One that he so richly deserved...."

Pearl Secret was the quickest and toughest horse that I have trained. With any luck he would have won the Group One that he so richly deserved. I look forward to training his offspring.
— David Barron, Trainer

He was an unbelievably fast horse and a real tough competitor. His run in the Temple Stakes was only a glimpse of what could have been. He was unlucky not to get that Group One win.
— George Baker, Jockey

From a sire line renowned for producing classy sprinters, Pearl Secret is a member of the same hardy family that provided Dutch Art, now a multiple G1 producing sire. This is a pedigree that shouts speed top to bottom.
— Nancy Sexton, Racing Post Bloodstock correspondent

We are delighted to stand Pearl Secret at Bucklands. He is from the Indian Ridge sire line and the best son of Compton Place to stand at stud. He offers a great option to breeders who previously supported Compton Place and had success with him, and we are based in the West Country making him very accessible to those breeders.
— Roisin Close, Bucklands Farm & Stud

He is really exciting to ride because of his electric speed
— Jamie Spencer, Jockey
